October 13, 2025: Laurie Garvie - Executive Director of the Richardson Symphony Orchestra
Founded in 1961, the Richardson Symphony has grown alongside the DFW metroplex to become one of the region’s premier orchestras. As the resident symphony of the Charles W. Eisemann Center for Performing Arts, the RSO presents a diverse season of classical and pops concerts designed to engage and inspire audiences across North Texas.
Throughout its history, the orchestra has been celebrated for innovative programming and for showcasing outstanding emerging talent. Many acclaimed artists have made their DFW symphony debuts with the RSO, including cellist Yo-Yo Ma, violinist Nadja Salerno-Sonnenberg, and pianist Behzod Abduraimov.
Beyond its critically acclaimed performances, the Richardson Symphony is recognized as a leader in music education and community outreach. The annual Ann & Charles Eisemann International Young Artists Competition attracts gifted performers from around the world, while the orchestra’s education initiatives introduce classical music to third-grade students across the Richardson Independent School District and local private schools.
Guided by our belief in the transformative power of music, the Richardson Symphony Orchestra is deeply committed to diversity, equity, and inclusion. This commitment is central to our mission and informs every aspect of our organization, ensuring that the RSO remains representative of—and accessible to—the entire community we serve.
